7 Silent Ways Stress May Be Affecting Your Dog

Dogs can’t speak the languages that humans do, but that doesn’t mean they don’t communicate with you constantly in their own way. If you learn to be in tune with your dog’s form of language, you’ll be able to tell when something is wrong.

Here are 7 signs your dog may be stressed:

Accidents

A toilet-trained dog who suddenly starts having accidents all the time may be dealing with a lot of anxiety and stress.

Tail Position

When a dog tucks their tail between their legs, they are literally telling you directly that they either feel guilty, are afraid, or are trying to show you that they are not a threat.

Being A Lap Dog

Dogs who are anxious will want to get as close to you as possible in order to get comfort from someone they trust.

Eyes

The eyes are the windows to the soul, and a dog’s eyes tend to speak volumes. They can be very expressive, so make eye contact to see what they’re feeling.

Shivering

A frightened dog might begin to shiver and shake. Of course, they could be ill, too, but anxiety can definitely cause this problem.

Hiding

Instincts will take over when a dog is very scared, and they may hurry off somewhere to hide. They can panic and run away, so you need to do what you can to help them feel safe.

Whining

A dog who is whining is trying to tell you something. Distressed whines are truly heartbreaking, and you’ll know when you hear them how serious the stress is!
