In Aleppo, a man’s kind and generous efforts to save animals lost from their families during the Syrian civil war went viral.
Mohammad Alaa Jaleel, famously known as the Cat Man of Aleppo, set up a sanctuary for more than a hundred cats and gave hope to the world through his compassion.
But the sanctuary was bombed, and after waiting as long as he could in order to move his beloved animals, Alaa had to find a safe place elsewhere. He sought refuge in Turkey, but recently returned to Syria and began to rebuild the sanctuary that had been destroyed. He took in many stray or lost cats again.
One day, Alaa came across a mother pup who was hiding 15 of her precious puppies in a field nearby the sanctuary. Alaa knew he had to help them, so he took them all in.
He is still in the process of making a space for the pup family inside the sanctuary itself, so for now, he drops by the field every day to feed them. Soon, they will be able to move in with him and be safe in a new home.
