Abandoned Pup Gets Rescued Just In Time So She Can Give Birth To Her Adorable Puppies In Safety

When this couple decided to complete their holiday in Savannah, Georgia by saving the neediest pup in a high-kill shelter, they didn’t expect that she would give birth right in their car!

Rebecca Lynch found out about a pregnant terrier in a Georgia shelter from a friend. The pup, named Lizzy, had been abandoned at the facility when she was pregnant, and she had a broken leg. It was unlikely that she would live for much longer.

So Lynch and her husband decided to rescue Lizzy so she wouldn’t suffer anymore. In order to help the frightened pup stay calm, they put a cozy bed, complete with a blanket, in the back seat, and Lynch sat with the pup and gave her lots of love and pets as they made the trip back to Florida.

After around an hour, Lizzy was much calmer and happier. She evidently felt like these were people she could trust, too, as that’s when she went into labor right in the car! In 20 minutes, Lizzy had given birth to her first little puppy. Lynch’s husband drove them towards the vet, and by the time they arrived, two more puppies had been born!

Lizzy gave birth to a fourth pup in the vet’s office, and the vet pronounced them all healthy and looking good. But Lizzy wasn’t done! On the car ride back home again, two more puppies were born, bringing the grand total to six!

Lizzy and her litter are now resting with a vet, and they will soon head back to Lynch’s home to relax. Then, the pups will be fostered, and, when ready, will be up for adoption. If you’re interested, get in touch with the Poodle and Pooch Rescue of Florida here!
