No amount of explanation can rightly justify hurting a dog intentionally. Sadly, this menace has become a norm in our society today. Some dogs go through severe abuse that almost costs them their lives.
A young pit bull, Khaleesi spent the first two years of her life in an abusive home. Her suffering ended in August 2015 when her abusive parent dumped her in a stranger's yard in Florida.
When rescuers found Khaleesi, half her face was missing, and she could barely walk. It was clear that it would require a lot of work, including several surgeries, for her to survive. Some rescues would have put her down, but not Passion 4 Pits Rescue. They took her in and gave her a fighting chance.
A vet examination showed Khaleesi's hind legs were immobile, and her lips and nasal cavity were missing. She was also starving and weighed only 20 pounds. Due to the severity of her condition, the rescue had to provide Khaleesi with intensive medical care before she would be ready for adoption.
Khaleesi successfully underwent facial reconstruction surgery less than a month after her rescue. Despite enduring painful abuse, she was always a happy pup who loved life.
Sadly, Khaleesi passed away in 2016 from kidney failure. Although her time on earth was short, she inspired thousands of people with her perseverance and positive attitude towards life.
