Dogs learn by example, and because they’re so smart, they tend to learn fast! In the Diversified Technical Education Institute of Monterrey Casanare in Columbia, Negro the resident dog has certainly been learning a lot!
The pup first came to call the school his home when staff gave him food and water when he began hanging out there. Now, he’s practically its unofficial mascot!
Every day, Negro observed students walking up to a store within the school and giving staff money in exchange for snacks. It wasn’t long before the pup decided to follow suit! One fine day, he picked up a leaf from the ground and went to the store, offering it in exchange for some cookies he really liked.
The pup created his own form of currency, learning from what those around him did. Amazing! Negro has been paying for snacks for five years now!
He’s limited to two dog-friendly snacks a day to keep his health in good shape and to prevent the inflation of leaf dollars, but the pup is happy and wouldn’t have it any other way!
