Mike Plas was heartbroken when his precious four-year-old pup Jack vanished from his Ontario, Canada yard. He did everything he could to locate his best friend, but Jack was nowhere to be found.
Countless flyers, social media posts, and pleas for help from the surrounding community later, the pup still hadn’t turned up. Plas wandered around the highway and the community, searching for any indication of where Jack had gone and asking everyone he met if they had seen anything.
But Jack never reappeared. But even as years and years passed, Plas couldn’t shake the feeling that Jack was somewhere out there, and that one day, he would finally come back home. Four years went by with no luck.
And then Plas got the call that would change everything. Through some convoluted traveling, Jack had managed to get all the way to Winnipeg. He’d been found an eight-hour drive away from his home, and he’d been wandering around outside the area of the Centennial Animal Hospital. A Good Samaritan was able to grab the pup and bring him into the hospital. Staff scanned for a microchip and found one, quickly contacting Plas.
Plas was in happy tears when he heard that his best buddy was safe, healthy, and alive in an animal hospital. As soon as his work ended, he and his girlfriend began to embark on the long eight-hour journey to Winnipeg. They arrived the following day after having to stop to rest during the night.
The second Jack saw Plas, he practically exploded with joy! He jumped up and down, crying and demanding pets and hugs, and it was an incredibly touching reunion. Now, he’s back at home, and he’s been sticking next to Plas all day long. Plas is so glad to have his family member back, and Jack is more than thrilled to be back home at last after four years away!
