I’m sure we have all experienced “Monday blues” at one time or the other. You know that feeling of weariness and boredom that comes on a Monday that follows an intense weekend.
It is notably worse when that Monday is supposedly a big day for you, and merely staying awake is a serious struggle! That’s exactly what happened to Brody, a 3-month old chocolate Labrador retriever puppy on the 6th of April.
On that day, a whole swearing-in ceremony was organized in honor of the puppy as Bristol Police Department’s new k9 comfort dog. The event was live-streamed on Facebook, Officer Medeiros, Brody’s on-duty partner, gave a thank-you speech, and question and answer rounds were held. But Brody apparently couldn’t care less about all that as he dozed throughout the ceremony. Or he was probably too tired after a hectic fun weekend.
However, there was a funny twist. The video clip of Brody sleeping generated the interest of a lot of people as they found it cute, especially when he stretched into a more comfortable sleeping position!
K9 Brody Swearing in Ceremony 4/6/2020

When Brody’s police partner, Officer Keith Medeiros, was interviewed, he revealed that the Chief of Police Kevin Lynch inspired the entire K9 idea. Chief Lynch desired to initiate a K9 unit in the department, so Officer Keith began to research into K9s and was immediately drawn to the comfort dog program.
He got into contact with Peggi and David Brogan, who donate Labradors to police departments. After his research, he put together a proposal and submitted it to the Chief. When the department received the dog, they named him Brody, a combination of “Bristol” and “Rhode Island.”
Watch out for Part 2!
