Three puppies trapped in a house fire in Lake City, Florida, have an Amazon delivery driver to thank for saving them. The driver, Angelina Starkey, was driving through the neighborhood when she noticed smoke pouring from a house.
While some people would have gone about their day, Starkey stopped, called 911, and waited for help to arrive. Thankfully, the first responders arrived on time and rescued the three Boston Terrier puppies.
"During a structure fire yesterday, 3 puppies were saved and revived from smoke inhalation. Thank you to the Amazon driver who noticed the smoke and called 911. Since the homeowner was not at home at the time, she saved the home and the puppies lives!" The Columbia County Fire Rescue took to Facebook to narrate the incident.
The dogs' mom, Laura Sutton, was only renting the home. She lost all her belongings in the fire and needed to find another home. If Starkey didn't call for help when she noticed the smoke, Sutton would have also lost the puppies to the fire.
Although the three puppies suffered significant lung damage and needed extensive care, they recovered and are doing well now. Sutton's mom, Lisa Ann Dunn, has started a GoFundMe to help her secure a new home and pay off the puppies' medical expenses.
