Here’s the thing – as much as we lavish much deserved praise upon intelligent pups, we have to remember that all this intelligence and trainability comes at a price.
High intelligence means a pup can get bored easily, and that eagerness to please can become detrimental when a pup develops separation anxiety!
Put two and two together, and you’ve got yourself a recipe for absolute disaster. So it should’ve been no surprise to this Dad when he came home to find the worst sight possible – his Labrador Retriever pup completely preoccupied with destroying a third pillow! And what’s worse, it seems like this pup doesn’t realize it’s an issue at all!
Dad can’t really punish this pup – there’s no way to relate a punishment and an action in a pup’s brain, unfortunately. All Dad can do next time is hide the pillows somewhere better, and then step in and figure how to resolve whatever this pup’s root problem is!
