Blind and Deaf Aussie Helps Mom Foster 2 Kittens

Little Buddy is a special dog for a variety of reasons. First, this Aussie was born deaf and blind, which made it possible for his mother to adopt Aster, another deaf and blind Aussie who needed a loving home.

His mother also claims that he is the ideal combination of a couch potato and adventure seeker. However, our favourite thing about this dog is how he assisted his mother in raising two tiny kittens during the COVID pandemic.

Little Buddy jumped right in when his mother, Krysten Harper, brought home two foster kittens who were only four weeks old and hardly able to walk.

The kittens, Teddy and Goose, spent their first few weeks in the bathtub since they were too young to be alone in the house. Little Buddy liked to check on them during that time, leaning over the side of the tub to see inside.

When it was time to part with Teddy and Goose, Krysten could not do it. So they remained with their doggy dad.

Krysten's other blind and deaf Aussie, Aster, has an entirely different relationship with the cats. Unlike Little Buddy, who has limited vision, she has no vision. However, she gets along well with the cats.

"I don't think Aster knows that she's not a cat, and I don't think the cats know that they're not dogs," laughs Krysten.
