Rocky the pit bull couldn’t resist chasing after a possum that he spotted while playing in the yard of his home in North Carolina. He hurried after it and eventually entered a pipe to keep up the chase – but then, he got stuck.
It wasn’t long before Rocky’s parent noticed he was gone and realized what was happening. She quickly rang up the Catawba County Animal Control. They soon arrived, but they realized they would need more help, so they called the Claremont Rescue. Together, they were a formidable rescue team on a mission!
The team worked to find out where Rocky had gotten stuck, digging up holes in the ground to try and locate him. After a while of searching, they finally figured out his exact location.
He was about halfway through the 100-foot pipe. Luckily, he didn’t seem scared – just very annoyed that a possum had gotten away from him!
It took two and a half hours of tireless digging before the team was finally able to get Rocky out, but his excitement and happiness were more than worth it! He ran around thanking everyone, showing them just how overjoyed he was to be free.
The first thing he did though, was rush to use the toilet – he must have really been holding it in! – but then he was right back to individually thanking each person who helped him.
Rocky is now back at home with his lovely family. With any luck, he’s learned not to run willy-nilly after any critter he sees – or, at least, he’ll be avoiding pipes from now on!
