Dog Born With Short Spine Syndrome Lives Her Life To The Fullest

Tilly is an adorable Tibetan Spaniel and she was rescued by her parent Anna Marie Giannini in 2019. Giannini responded to an advertisement that she saw online stating that puppies were being given away, the ad also stated that there was one that was different.

That unique pup was Tilly and it was her difference that compelled Giannini to take her in. Tilly was born with Short Spine Syndrome, a condition where her compressed vertebrae makes her look like she doesn’t have a neck and her back appears to be shorter. Her previous caretakers told Giannini that if she wasn’t taken she would be euthanized.

Distraught by the statement, Giannini stated that she fell in love with Tilly from the moment she saw her and welcomed the puppy in her arms. This was the start of a beautiful relationship and a wonderful life for Tilly, and Giannini promised that she’d never feel unwanted again.

As a small pup her short spine wasn’t too obvious but as she grew it became more apparent; regardless of that, Tilly still thrived. Her body is as capable as her other dog friends because her body has adapted to it and she is expected to live a healthy and long life.

With regards to their life together, Giannini hardly thinks of Tilly’s difference, the only time she needs help is when she gets off furniture for which she has a set of stairs; her stiff spine also prevents her from scratching or chewing herself, but Giannini remedies that with daily massages.

Tilly is very affectionate and often shows her care to her parent and her friends, whether it be laying by her parent as she works or standing in between her legs as she cooks, she’s sure to express her gratitude.
