Dog Falls Into Lagoon While Enjoying A Boat Trip With Family

Myla was enjoying a sunny day with her family on a boat in Pamlico Sound, North Carolina when she accidentally fell overboard. Pamlico Sound is the largest lagoon along the North American East Coast, extending 80 miles long and 20 miles wide. Finding a lost dog in such a body of water wasn’t going to be easy.

A crew conducting Law Enforcement missions was quickly called, and they responded immediately. The rescuers began searching the area for Myla. When they noticed water moving in a particular direction, they followed it and found the pup swimming and doing her best to stay afloat.

Myla spent roughly 30 minutes in the water. According to one of the rescuers, Cristina Zito, the dog “swam 1 mile” within that time. By the time they got to her, she was already very tired.

“After a quick inspection to ensure no injuries, the exhausted pup was given VIP treatment by the crew and was eventually reunited with its owners,” stated Coast Guard officials.

The U.S. Coast Guard Station Hatteras Inlet shared the rescue video, writing: “We want to congratulate Myla on being a good girl and an amazing doggie swimmer!” The post garnered lots of praise and thanks from different people who commended them on the successful rescue.
