Mark from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has shared the rescue story of his dog, Onyx. Mark and his wife adopted the pup a few years after they married when they discovered they wouldn't have a child.
According to Mark, "the need to fill that missing void" led them in search of a puppy, and they came across Onyx, a lab/beagle mix, at a local humane society. The couple fell in love with him instantly and adopted him.
One week later, Onyx became severely ill and was diagnosed with parvo.
"The vets couldn't make any promises, and we were faced with the real possibility we could lose our guy of only eight weeks," Mark said.
Thankfully, Onyx recovered from the illness and became a loving companion to his family. The trio would create many memories together, including visiting every park and open field in western Pennsylvania.
As years rolled by, age started catching up to Onyx. The dog, often running and playing, soon started walking and limping. However, despite the woes of old age, he continued to warm the hearts of his family and enjoyed going on wagon rides on the bike trail with them.
Onyx spent 16 years with his family before journeying over the rainbow bridge. While his family is heartbroken he's gone, they are grateful for the opportunity to have loved him and hope to reunite with him in another life.
