Dog Left To Die In Bitter Cold Finds A Second Chance To Love And Life

Winter is a harsh time for stray dogs. If they don’t tragically succumb to the freezing weather, they end up with unpleasant frostbite on their ears and paws, the latter of which they use when they are in search of food and water.

In this case, Rosabella, who is a pit bull, wasn’t even given a chance to try surviving when she was left out in the cold by her previous family.

Workers from Ruff Start Rescue found Rosabella in the most tragic of circumstances. The way she was left in the cold was marked by abuse and ruthlessness. When they pieced things together, the rescue workers figured that she was dumped in the alley and left locked in a small crate with no access or chance to get food or water, she was effectively left for dead.

The pup was put in a crate, hungry and freezing, and taken to the shelter where a foster home was found, and she was put under the care of Breanna Jensen. Jensen told news outlets that Rosabella “the miracle dog” wouldn’t have survived 24 hours longer in the conditions she was found, but still had a fighting chance to recover. With Jensen and her family by Rosabella’s side, the dog underwent several check-ups, and it was disclosed that she was suffering from splayed feet and sores, which were caused by her confinement to the cage.

Adding to this, the pup was 26 pounds below her minimum weight, which really compounded the severity of her condition.

Fortunately, Rosabella is making steady progress in her recovery. Jensen often updates the rescue on her health and her social skills, noting that she’s starting to come out of her shell.
