Milo, a playful springer spaniel, ran away from home a few months ago and was nowhere to be found. His family searched far and wide, with the help of friends and even local authorities.
After going missing, the police were called to respond to a sighting of Milo but did not make it in time. This was in early February, and since then, the case had been cold. After being missing for 43 days Kent County Michigan’s local animal shelter teamed up and searched for Milo. To their surprise, they found him.
Around 20 miles away, some town residents of Sand Lake called in about weird barking that has been occurring over the past few days. The police and the residents went searching, following the barking, and came upon an old bunker-style silo. For some background, a bunker-style silo is what you would typically see in a zombie apocalypse movie, with a doorway leading underground.
This silo’s 10-foot walls kept Milo inside and wouldn’t allow him to climb back out, ultimately trapping him. Residents of the town helped the police get him out, by looping a rope around him and hoisting him to safety. While being stuck here for 43 days, Milo lost 33 pounds and was incredibly sick. Luckily, Milo was rescued just in time and taken for medical inspection. Finally, a few days ago, Milo was reunited with his family, who was so thankful to have him home safe.
His family says that he is doing fine, and giving him all the love he has missed these past 43 days.
