A mix-breed Chihuahua named, King, recently reunited with his Texas-based original family after six years of being separated from them. Last October 25, the 15-year-old Chihuahua was turned over for adoption at the Humane Society of Broward County in Florida.
The woman, who brought him in, said that she could no longer give King the care that he needed because she was very ill. She also explained to the Humane Society office staff that she took care of King for six months after she got him from his previous parents. The pet adoption service staff, then, scanned King to find out if he had been previously microchipped, and if so, to find out more about the dog’s background.
It was then that they learned about King’s original family who are based in San Antonio Texas, which is more than a thousand miles away from Florida. They also discovered, to their surprise, that King had been reported as missing by his family six years ago. The Humane Society of Broward County then informed the Chihuahua’s family, the Vazquez, who braved more than 12 hours of land travel from Texas to Florida just to be reunited with their precious dog.
“There were many tears and hugs, and the family is grateful they have King home where he belongs,” the Humane Society of Broward County said in a press release statement, “They never gave up hope.”
What a beautiful way to end the day!
