Dog With Severe Allergies Receives The Help She Needed

Pound life can be challenging for most dogs. One dog that knows this well is Rhodie. When she arrived at the Humane Society of Pike's Peak Region, she had several issues and was in a lot of pain.

According to a Facebook post the rescue shared, rescuers found Rhodie without fur around her eyes, ears, and paws. She had bad skin as well and was extremely sensitive to human touch. The rescuers took her to the vet immediately for some medical attention.

Rhodie received special baths and daily ointment applications from the veterinary staff. She was also given medicine and placed on a special diet, including Hill's Science Diet z/d dog food. The meal is specifically for dogs with food allergies and helps them with skin issues.

The rescue's efforts started yielding good results almost immediately. Rhodie's skin began to clean up, and after a series of examinations, she was much more at ease with being handled.

Rhodie was transformed into a brand-new dog after spending approximately a month with the rescue. Aside from getting a new lease on life, she also got a new home as someone adopted her.

"[S]he trotted out of the shelter with a smiling snout, allergy medicine, and the cutest human by her side!" the Humane Society reports.
