Dognappers Also Know The Importance Of Pets During The Pandemic... They're Getting Bolder

Many dog parents have a daily routine, whether that be walking in the morning, or cuddles by the TV after work, it’s all the same. For Roosevelt Rodriguez, he knows this better than anyone.

Whenever he would come home from work, he would be greeted by his lovable French bulldog Chanel, open the door for her to go out, and then change out of his work clothes and get ready for a long walk. In late February, his routine was quickly ruined. As he went outside to get Chanel ready for their daily walk, he was surprised to see his neighbors running towards him. Someone had taken her.

Dog snatching crimes have increased, and these thieves have gotten much bolder now. They have started to steal pets from front yards, cars, stores, and even through house robberies. The more expensive dogs someone has, the more likely they are to be targeted. French bulldogs in particular, and Lady Gaga’s dog walker is a prime example of this. One afternoon, her dog walker was shot while walking her two dogs in Los Angeles, and the thieves stole the two dogs and got away.

Many officials are saying they are not surprised by what has been happening, because of the recent pandemic. With many individuals out of jobs, violent crimes such as some dog-napping cases have been spreading like wildfire. Countless towns and cities are on high alert so that dog parents aren’t scared to let their dogs out of their homes.
