Smedley, the English bulldog is replacing Belleau Wood, who already retired. Smedley Butler is a 14 week old English bulldog puppy, and he is currently working to become MCRD San Diego’s newest mascot.
The English bulldog together with his handler Cpl. Tyler Viglione, are living at the recruit depot, and Smedley is doing basic doggy training from sitting to learning how to salute and similar tricks.
The hard work and dedication will soon come in handy for Smedley’s future role with the Marines!
