Even After 100 Years, This Pup's Loyalty Is Unmatched, Honored And Celebrated

The story of Hachiko, the famous faithful pup forever devoted to his daddy, has likely already touched your heart like it has countless other people around the world.

This real life story is set in Tokyo, Japan, and tells of the undying love between a pup and his daddy. If you haven’t heard of it, here’s a quick recap! Professor Hidesaburo Ueno adopted Hachiko, a young farm-born Akita pup, and was the best possible daddy for the fur ball.

Every morning, the professor and his pup would walk to the Shibuya train station, where the professor caught a train to work. He would bid his beloved fur ball goodbye, and Hachiko would patiently wait for him to return. He loved his daddy very much!

To keep himself occupied, Hachiko wandered around the shops near the train station and befriended the shop owners, who couldn’t resist falling in love with him. They fed him food scraps and kept him company until his daddy returned from work. But one day, Hachiko’s daddy didn’t come home from work. He’d passed away from a brain hemorrhage.

Hachiko had no way of knowing where his daddy had gone. The pup faithfully went back to the station to await his daddy’s return every single day without fail for the next ten years until he died from natural causes. Those who knew of Hachiko’s story told the tale to whoever would listen, and it traveled far and wide. This touching and heartwarming story also inspired a monument right outside the station, built to commemorate the sweet fur ball’s loyalty.

The entrance that was used by the pup and his daddy was also renamed in his honor.
