Working as a firefighter comes with different surprises each day. A day at work can start normally but end unexpectedly with a call about something unusual on the other end. That is what happened in Seminole County, Florida, recently, where a dog parent called firefighters in a panic to report that her dog fell into a sinkhole and was stuck.
The firefighters from station 42 responded swiftly to the call for help. At the scene, they discovered that 75% of the dog's body was buried and covered with dirt while only 25% of his body was exposed. The dog was hanging on to life as he tried to wiggle himself out. By the time help arrived, he was already extremely distressed and exhausted.
As soon as the firefighters assessed the situation, they got to work by digging the dog out with a shovel. They also tried to calm the dog's mum by explaining their actions. It didn't take long before they were able to free the dog.
Once the dog was set free, they gave him some oxygen, put him on a gurney, and transported him to the nearest animal hospital. At the hospital, the dog underwent some check-ups and was treated. He is doing fine now and is happily back to his mum.
