One of the saddest things a rescue dog has to go through is sitting around for months, maybe even years, waiting to be adopted. And it happens more often than it should. But sometimes, a patient dog will end up being adopted by the perfect family.
Basher is a Cane Corso that has lived the past two years in various rescues. All this time, he was searching for someone to adopt him, but with no luck. He has met a lot of people, but none of them were the ones.
Most people overlooked him because of his size. He weighed around 130 pounds and stood over six feet tall. He also needed to be an only pet. Preferably, the family who would adopt it is one without any kids, as Basher just doesn’t realize how strong he is.
When he was transferred to RSPCA Cornwall, he had almost lost hope that he will find someone to care for him. The staff immediately fell in love with him. They described him as loving and gentle, if not a bit stubborn. He was also adorably slobby, which earned him the nickname “Dribble King”. The volunteers wanted to find him a home in time for Christmas.
So, they shared his story on social media. It just so happened that someone saw the posts, and became interested in adopting Basher. They came over to visit Basher and it was love at first sight. As soon as the paperwork is finalized, they will take him home. Basher’s dream finally came true, and it turns out his patience paid off.
