Dakota had always been a special dog from the minute he was born. His mom described him as an ‘old soul’ with full knowledge of what the family had been through.
The Christopher family had lost their family pet unexpectedly. They thought the best way to overcome the pain was to help another rescue dog in need. The family drove from their home in Florida all the way to Alabama to get Dakota.
Dakota has since lived an incredible life. His adventures with his family have taken him all across Florida, to places like Costa Rica and the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. Dakota is also a dog that loves the beach, and his family would take him to the beach every year on his birthday.
Dakota’s birthday is a big celebration for the Christopher family. The older he got was the bigger the celebration, and his 14th birthday was no different. Though he doesn’t have the energy to run around the beach like he did when he was young, his family was going to make sure he had a great time. This year, they made a giant sign and placed it at the side of the car. It read: “Honk for my 14th birthday.
Dakota sat in the front seat so it was clear he was the birthday boy.
He enjoyed hearing all the honks and felt like the most special dog in the world. Who knows how his family will help him to celebrate next year. We’re sure he’ll love it!
