Heartbroken Pup Who Spent 15 Years Tied Outside On A Chain Finally Finds Love

At 15 years old, Cloud the husky had known what it was like to be inside a house. For his entire lifetime, he’d been kept chained up outside of a run down house in Pennsylvania.

When emergency responders arrived at the property after its roof gave out, they were surprised to see the pup tethered outdoors. Due to last year’s Libre’s Law going into effect, it is illegal in the state of Pennsylvania to keep a dog tied up outdoors for longer than nine hours daily, or 30 minutes daily in freezing weather. Pups also cannot be tied up in dirty, waste-filled locations. Cloud’s situation went against all these laws.

He had a cramped doghouse and a car roof to provide a pitiful amount of shelter, but it was freezing, the pup had clearly never been inside the house at all, and the area around him was covered in his waste. Volunteers and staff with Hillside SPCA rushed to the scene. Cloud was not in good shape. He had a mass on his hind end, he was extremely thin, and his fur was badly matted. A vet check revealed the mass to be a tumor, yet Cloud’s senior age made it too dangerous to operate. Cloud was also revealed to be deaf.

On top of that, Cloud didn’t adapt well to the shelter life. He spent all of his time pacing, then sleeping, and pacing some more. Cloud soon entered a foster home, but he continued to pace and would isolate himself. He knocked things over and stayed in a corner of the laundry room, viewing his foster family with suspicion. His foster mom decided to give Cloud some space. She kept Cloud away from her three young children and allowed her six other dogs to politely show him the ropes of the house.

At first, it didn’t seem to be working – but then one day, Garrett felt a swipe at her foot from a soft paw. Cloud was asking to be pet. When she obliged, he kissed her and wouldn’t let her stop. Cloud slowly learned new things – to be friendlier, to play, to be more relaxed, and to come inside after using the bathroom. Soon, Cloud was ready to be adopted – and when he met his future Dad for the first time, he gave him a big kiss in the face, and that sealed the deal.

Cloud now goes by the name Titus, and he has a bucket list of things to do. He has a lovely orthopedic bed, has regular massages, and absolutely loves going on walks. He has the loving family he deserves and spends most of his time inside!
