Diarrhea can be a big pain for dogs and their owners. Here are some great remedies you can try to help treat the condition for your canine companion.
Bland Meals
Make meals of plain rice mixed with boneless and skinless chicken and feed them to your dog in small amounts.
Over-The-Counter Medications
Some human medications are effective for dogs, but make sure you talk to your vet first before giving your dog human products!
Probiotics
Probiotics can help heal a dog’s digestive system. You can add capsules of the stuff to their food or feed them plain unsweetened yogurt.
Rest
Make sure your dog isn’t too active. Keep them resting and relaxed in a quiet and comfortable area.
Canned Pumpkin
Using pure canned pumpkin (not pie filling) can help make stools more solid. Just a tablespoon or two will do the trick.
Pedialyte
This electrolyte solution – plain and unflavored – can reduce risk of dehydration. Talk to a vet first before administering.
Baby Food
This type of food is gentle on the stomach and is good for dogs who don’t like rice. Opt for unseasoned ones, though!
Fasting
A dog who is vomiting and experiencing diarrhea at the same time could benefit from a 24-hour food fast. Make sure they still have water, though!
Sweet Potatoes
Cook some sweet potatoes, skin them, and mash them to help harden up stools.
