Here's Why Dogs Suffer Hair Loss

Our canine companions seem to get their hair just about everywhere! In the furniture, on our clothes, and sometimes even in our food. Have you ever noticed that your loyal hound is shedding more during certain times of the year than others?

Or perhaps you have noticed a sudden change in hair loss. There are many reasons why this could be the case, and here are a few for you to digest:

• Routine shedding: it is normal for a dog to shed with a change of season, changing environment, and change of weather. It is their body’s way of getting used to the change and adapting to comfort
• Breeds and coat blow: certain breeds of dog have a tendency to shed more than others and researching your breed will give you a better idea of what to expect. Other breeds, such as the German Shepard, have two coats of hair and shed one during seasonal changes
• Infection and nutrition: if your dog is maybe not getting the right nutrition needed to keep a healthy body, excessive shedding can happen. In addition to that, your loyal hound may be infected with a parasite or have a skin infection that irritates the skin and causes hair loss. These are not normal occurrences and should result in you taking your canine companion for a check-up and possible treatment
• Medical conditions and allergies: it could be that we are not aware of our dogs being allergic to something. Whether it is a substance or surface, allergic reactions can also cause hair loss. Additionally, your furry-faced friend may have a medical condition that needs treatment, and a visit to your vet could rule that out effectively!
