Dogs are some of the most reliable friends you can have. Not only do they offer company, but they are also very quick to notice if something is wrong with you and try to help you. Sometimes, they even save their parents’ lives.
In Cumbria, England, a 71-year-old man was hiking with his two dogs on a mountain trail. Everything seemed normal until the man had a seizure. He collapsed and lost consciousness, and everything could have ended horribly. But the dogs were determined to save their dad. They knew they had passed another hiker just a few minutes prior, so one of the dogs, a black Lab, ran back to get her. He started barking, trying to get her attention, and once he did, he took her back to where his dad lay. The woman called the emergency line, and soon, rescuers were on their way.
The woman and the dogs waited patiently by the man’s side until help arrived. One of the dogs, a golden retriever, was so concerned that he even laid on his parent to give him some warmth. Thankfully, the man regained consciousness soon, even before the rescue team arrived. Rescuers helped him walk down the trail to the place where an ambulance was waiting. He was taken to the hospital for an examination.
If the dogs hadn’t been there, it’s unlikely he would have survived. Fortunately, that wasn’t the case, and he was able to get the help he needed in time. But, thanks to the heroism of his dogs, the man is going to be alright.
