Hero Pup Saves Foster Mom From Getting Bitten By A Rattlesnake

Hero Pup Saves Foster Mom From Getting Bitten By A Rattlesnake

Nellie has always been a nervous, shy, and easily frightened pup. No one has ever called the 5-year-old pit bull pup, rescued from a homeless life, “brave” or “courageous”. But then, one day, she proved everyone wrong.

Nellie had been a part of the Final Frontier Rescue Project, Texas, since she was one year old after they rescued her from a shelter in California. For many years, she was moved around a lot before finally winding up in a foster home with Jane Taylor just six months ago.

She was scared of everything when Taylor first met her – people, noises, animals, you name it! Then, in March, she and her foster Mom went for a hike. As they walked down to the car, Taylor suddenly heard the sound of a rattlesnake right behind her.

She began to scream, and just like that, Nellie had leaped up and pinned the snake to the ground, urging her foster Mom to escape while she took care of things.

Unfortunately, Nellie was soon bitten on the face, and a friend rushed over to drag the snake away in his jacket. Nellie couldn’t move, so the pair of people picked her up and brought her to the car.

She looked like she was in pain and suffering, so they hurried her to a nearby vet. Thankfully, they were just in time! Nellie received antibiotic and antivenom treatment and then put on bed rest. Just two days later, she was up and active again.

Her bravery shows just how far she’s come, and the only thing she needs now is a forever home – especially since Taylor plans to move to Hawaii soon. Want to adopt this heroic pup? Reach out to the Final Frontier Rescue Project on their Facebook page for more information!
