How Jelly Bean Recovered After Losing Her Skin...

While you only want the best for dogs in your care, there are some people who do not mean them well. Jelly Bean was the victim of cruelty and suffered severe skin damage as a result.

Jelly Bean was taken into the Kokomo Humane Society on Saturday, April 7, and was eventually under the care of Hayley Green, a veterinary technician at an animal hospital. While at the shelter, the staff tended to her wounds immediately. She was given antibiotics and her wounds were treated with honey. It is a natural antibiotic and it won’t harm dogs when they lick it. It also promotes skin growth. Her skin was also water treated to remove dead skin

On Monday, she was taken to the veterinarian and was already doing better. She was eating, playing, and showing signs of life. It was revealed that she was burned repeatedly by a human and was hit by a car. Though her injuries were extensive, she was expected to make a full recovery.

This is where Haley Green came in. She fell in love with Jelly Bean and expressed her desire to foster her. After weeks of treatment, her skin injuries healed and she was put up for adoption. Thanks to the shelter’s Shelby’s Second Chance Fund, Jelly Beans and dogs like her are able to get the care they need and have been introduced to loving parents.

A big thank you to everyone at the shelter and people who care for rescues every day!
