Teaching your golden retriever to heel is one of the most important basic commands. For most of us, a pulling golden retriever or other large dog is just too strong to walk comfortably. That’s why heel is so important.
When you can take a walk comfortably with your dog, it will make the whole experience more pleasant for everyone involved. Plus, learning to heel is stimulating for your fur kid as they have to show restraint instead of going bonkers at every sight and smell they encounter on a walk.
Melanie McLeroy is showing us how to properly teach your a dog (specifically a golden) to heel. She is certified in animal CPR and first aid, and also co-owns the award winning Taurus Training dog training facility in Austin, TX.
The video you’re about to see (on page 2) is a wealth of information for those just learning dog training! Melanie, the trainer, makes training not only fun for the dog but also fun for the viewers to watch as well!
