In order to make sure our dogs are happy and healthy, dog owners need to be able to spot the signs and symptoms of a serious problem.

Here are 25 symptoms that you should never ignore:

  1. Inflammation or redness of the gums.
  2. Breathing or respiratory difficulties.
  3. Repeated and regular vomiting for days on end.
  4. Pale or whitish gums.
  5. Rear leg paralysis or loss of function.
  6. Compulsive, repeated, or continuous scratching for long periods of time.
  7. Trouble urinating, whether due to straining, a lack of urine, small amounts of urine, or pain while urinating
  8. Scooting; the act of a dog pulling their read end along the floor
  9. Excessive or repeated drooling
  10. High levels of negative sensitivity to touch
  11. A fever of over 102.5 degrees
  12. Overheating and signs of overheating
  13. An enlarged or swollen abdomen
  14. Constant, repeated, or continuous coughing or sneezing
  15. Loss of consciousness
  16. Lumps of any shape or size on the body
  17. Drinking too much or showing excessive signs of thirst
  18. Lethargy, tiredness, or exhaustion
  19. Limping or walking gait changes
  20. Seizures
  21. Vomiting or coughing up blood
  22. Allergic reactions of any kind
  23. A dull coat, or one where fur is falling out a lot
  24. Unexplainable weight loss, especially of a sudden kind
  25. Appetite loss, even to foods they usually love
