If You Talk To Your Dogs You Have A Higher Level of Intelligence and Social Smarts!

Have you ever been made fun of because you talk to your pets? People often roll their eyes when dog Moms and Dads do this because dogs can’t exactly understand most verbal human language.

But according to University of Chicago professor Nicholas Epley – author of Mindwise: How We Understand What Others Think, Believe, Feel, and Want – this isn’t just a totally normal form of behavior, but also one that indicates a higher level of intelligence and social smarts.

The act of assigning human characteristics, emotions, and even thoughts to non-human creatures or even objects is known as anthropomorphism. It is most common in children, who often play make believe with all sorts of items, which helps them to develop social skills.

Most of us outgrow anthropomorphism, but those of us who don’t are actually displaying signs of social intelligence. We apply these features to dogs, showing that we are able to connect with them, allowing us to interact with them at a more meaningful level. The same goes for naming and talking to inanimate objects.

So, instead of considering these actions childlike or juvenile, we should enjoy them! Talk to your dogs all you want! It doesn’t make you immature – it makes you smart.
