A lost dog named Cooper proved to be the best firefighter this family from Virginia could have asked for. When a family of three got stuck in a house fire, this dog swooped in and saved the day.
Cooper was first spotted by Charity Golloway earlier this year. She spotted him near her house, snapped a couple of photos, and shared them on a Facebook group in hopes of finding his parents. The description described Cooper as nice and gentle and let people know that he had a collar, signalling that he was lost, not a stray. While the post was shared a few times, no one responded to claim him.
Golloway nicknamed the dog “Butter” and decided to take care of him until his parents come forward. After a few months, she started to think that maybe no one will come for the dog. As the weather got colder, she decided to make arrangements for “Butter” to have a place to stay.
So, she set up a heat lamp outside to keep him warm. While this gesture was kind, it had disastrous consequences. The lamp caught on fire one night and the fire quickly spread. “Butter” started barking loudly until Golloway woke up. This gave her and her two kids enough time to save themselves.
Once they were outside, Golloway called the fire department. When they arrived at the scene, they deemed “Butter” a hero and shared a photo of him on social media. His real parent saw the photo and recognised the dog as Cooper, the missing dog.
Obviously, Golloway is sad to see Cooper go, but she is happy he could be reunited with his family.
