Mom Makes Dummy Of Herself To Keep Her Adorable Pup Company When She's Not Around!

Sara is a rescue pup who has been struggling to overcome bad separation anxiety for years now. Every single time her Mom, Colleen, leaves her alone for even a moment, the poor pup begins to panic, and soon she becomes destructive and hurts herself in the process.

Once alone, Sara will cry and bark, run around and break things, and be unable to stop pacing. Sometimes, she harms herself and has had her nose red and raw by rubbing it hard non-stop against a door. As you can imagine, this is difficult for Colleen, not only because she has to be outside every now and again, but also because she hates seeing Sara suffer so much.

Sara’s Mom tried absolutely everything she could think of. She crate trained her, used medication and oils from a vet, and burned out her energy on long walks – all to no avail. She had to resort to using daycares or asking others to look after the pup. That’s when Colleen’s cousin presented her with a possible solution. She made a dummy, jokingly named Dolly, to replace Colleen and fill in for her when she was gone.

Understandably, Colleen wasn’t too sure if it would work, but she tried her best to make it. She added her own clothes, some glasses, and placed the dummy in her bed so it would get her scent for Sara.

It took a while for Sara to get used to Dolly, and Colleen tried to hide her away in odd places so Sara didn’t get to used to Dolly or decide she wasn’t real enough. When Sara started being left alone again, the change was immediate.

She would peek at Dolly and immediately relax. Soon, she would sleep peacefully even when Colleen was away. She even began resting at the dummy’s feet in the bathroom – something she’d never done, ever!

Sara can definitely tell that Dolly isn’t Colleen, but the item is human-like and familiar, and when Colleen can’t be around, it seems to keep her calm. Sara has a way to go in overcoming her anxiety, but with Dolly by her side, she’s well on her way.
