Mom’s Eulogy To Beloved Pup Touches Hearts From All Over The World

After posting a heart-wrenching eulogy on social media, honoring her late Golden Retriever, Charlie, a Greenville, South Carolina parent finds consolation, joy, and overwhelming love from co-parents all over the world, some of whom sharing their own joys and sorrows of having and losing their precious ones.

Thirty-year-old Sallie Gregory Hammet recently revealed that ‘her dearest boy and best friend of seven years’ had recently passed after his 5-month fight against lymphoma. Devastated and desiring to honor Charlie’s memory, Hammet decided to compose his obituary and publish it in the newspaper.

She found out that it was too expensive, and so, she opted, instead, to post it on social media. Hammet retraced her journey with Charlie which started when she was still single and residing in a new city. She recounts how Charlie accompanied her wherever she went and whatever she did, providing much-needed comfort and companionship.

According to Hammet they shared precious moments together – working, hiking, swimming, stick-collecting, camping, sleeping, fishing, and even, Home Depot shopping. All those who knew her knew Charlie and witnessed how very much she loved him, she said. Charlie’s obituary was very personal, describing him as a fun-loving dog who adored car trips, bananas, beaches, socks, squirrel-chasing, visiting grandparents for handouts, and urinating wherever his cousin, Captain, urinates.

Hammett titled the obituary, ‘Remembering Charlie,’ adding that he loved his mom, pampered her with kisses, and taught others to love unconditionally.
