When Karlyn the 2-year-old pit bull pup was first rescued, she was extremely anxious and miserable. The pup was found in South Carolina as a stray, but it was clear that she had likely been dumped by someone and may have been abused. She was timid and terrified of everyone.
Karlyn was taken in by a shelter that was extremely crowded and already had 10 big pups that needed to go to a temporary or permanent home ASAP.
When Fran Alexay found out about Karlyn’s plight, she contacted her friend who works with Champlain Valley Canine Rescue, Valerie Mullin. Together, they decided to help the pup out.
Karlyn was fostered by Alexay. In just two weeks, the pup unfurled and revealed herself to be extremely loving. It wasn’t long before she learned to trust humans again, and she started to show off an absolutely beautiful smile.
After this, Karlyn would have to be moved to Vermont, where she would stay with Mullin until someone stepped forward to adopt her. Before that, though, Alexay wanted to record a little video to help Karlyn get adopted.
She talked about how much Karlyn needs a person she can love and rely on, and how incredible she is – all while the pup cuddled up to her. Now, Karlyn is with Mullin, where she’s having a lot of fun and proving herself to be a loving and amazing dog who would do well in the perfect family.
