Territorial dogs can be cruel to newcomers. That’s what happened when Goldie the golden retriever pup wound up in a small Texas town that already had a pack in the area.
They attacked him and bullied him, forcing the poor pup to remain hidden under a mobile home. It wasn’t long before animal control came around to help, but the pup was frozen from fright and had to be dragged out from his spot before he could be brought to a local shelter.
He had suffered from wounds and deep gashes all over his body and was in a state of shock. That’s when volunteers from Rescue Dogs Rock NYC stepped in to take him to a vet for multiple stitches and lots of antibiotics.
It took two weeks for the pup to leave the vet’s office and move to New York City, and he had to spend another fortnight with a vet there. But as he recovered, he bloomed – his fur grew beautifully and he healed well, and the sweet pup was ready for adoption.
After a Facebook post was put up advertising him, tons of applications poured in! But the person who eventually took the pup home was the girlfriend of a volunteer who immediately fell in love with him. The pup now has two siblings – a dog and a cat – and is loving his new family life! He even has a new name now – Dakota.
