Poor Pup Had No Idea Why He Was Suddenly Dropped At The Shelter... Then Things Changed

Ritter and Corky’s family loved them very much. But when tragedy struck, the family lost their home, and the pups had to be given up. They were surrendered to the Humane Society in Hamilton County, Indiana – and as soon as their family left, Ritter became terrified, anxious, and very depressed.

Ritter spent all his time inside his kennel confused, staring at the floor and pressed into the wall. Staff showered him with affection and love, and he blossomed outside of his little kennel – but every time he went back in, he was back to his depressed self.

Staff new that Ritter needed to get out of here fast, and it really hurt them to see him in that condition. So they made a Facebook post with his picture, alongside a plea for adoption. This is when Sophie Spenia saw it.

She had been planning to adopt for a while since purchasing a home with enough space, so she’d been repeatedly checking the shelter’s website and social media.

Spenia fell in love with Ritter the moment she saw him. She told her sister that they needed to get there right after work! But then her sister messaged her again two hours later and told her that the post was going viral, with about 3,000 shares.

Spenia knew there was no time to lose. Thankfully, her boss is also a pup person, so he gave her permission to clock out and go straight to the shelter!

Spenia hurried over and nervously waited to meet Ritter. Knowing that he was very nervous and sad, she was worried that he wouldn’t like her. But the moment he saw her, he hurried over and laid his head in her lap! If Spenia wasn’t in love before, well, she certainly was now!

Ritter now lives happily with his new Mom, and he’s no longer depressed or frightened. This just goes to show that every dog deserves a second chance!
