Pregnant Hound Marks Election Night By Delivering Her Own Results – 16 New Robust Pups!

Not everyone in Charlottesville, Virginia was kept in suspense during election night until the wee hours of the morning, waiting for the final tally.

Ashley Dunbar, herself, who is a foster parent to a very pregnant hound, Lorelei, was kept awake the entire time tending to Lorelei, who, at that time, gave birth to 16 new puppies over a span of several hours.

Though happily surprised to welcome the family’s new additions, 16 girls and 4 boys to be exact, the Dunbar family was initially shocked when they found out that Lorelei started to go into labor and give birth to the puppies, one after the other.

According to Ashley, her beloved hound did not exhibit any signs that she was in labor or about to deliver during those eventful hours.

“We were quite shocked, very to say the least,” Ashley Dunbar recounted the fateful night, “We were told maybe 13, maybe 13, and then, we had 15, and then, we had 15, and then we had about a 30-minute break to get some sleep before work today, and then, we woke up to the 16th one.”

The foster family, was, however, overjoyed to know that all of Lorelei’s 16 new babies turned out strong and healthy, just like their mother. As soon as they are ready and able, the pups will, then, be put up for adoption with the assistance of the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA.
