Sergeant Rose and Deputy Soto were wrapping up a call response for Florida’s Lee County Sheriff’s Office when they spotted a shape next to their cop car. Close inspection revealed that it was a pup, and he seemed a little confused.
The pup was overjoyed to meet the police officers, and it appeared that he was lost and awaiting help – possibly even awaiting them! Luckily, he had a collar with an ID attached, revealing that his name was Hank. There was a good chance that he had managed to escape from his family, and it was reasonable to assume he hadn’t come from too far away.
Deputy Soto worried that Hank would be a little hungry, so he gave the lost pup the remainder of his own dinner. He then opened the back door of the police car, and Hank knew what to do at once, jumping right in immediately! The ID he wore on his collar had an address on it, so the officers drove him to the location.
Hank’s family hadn’t actually noticed that the pup had escaped, as it hadn’t been long since he’d done so! He was supposed to be out in the yard but had managed to sneak away without his family even knowing.
It’s such a good thing that Hank seemed to instinctively know how to get assistance. He waited right by that patrol vehicle for the officers, and he trusted them entirely the moment he met them. He was brave and smart, and now he’s glad to be home again. Hopefully, he’ll think twice before leaving his house next time!
