The Humane Society International in México recently rescued 23 abused dogs from filth after they got wind of their abysmal state of living. Rescuers who helped evacuate the dogs in Aguascalientes, Mexico, described their living conditions as the most filthy they had ever seen.
When rescuers arrived at the home where the dogs were held captive, they found they were made to live in small enclosures without food or water. Their surroundings were so filthy and littered with their poop. It was obvious the dogs had been left to suffer for a long time as they were visibly malnourished, dehydrated, and could barely move.
Narrating the incident, the manager of the Humane Society International in México, Felipe Márquez Muñoz, said the dogs were very excited when help arrived. “If we had not intervened, I dread to think what would have happened to them,” he said.
The person who kept the dogs voluntarily surrendered them to the State Attorney for Environmental Protection, who teamed up with the Humane Society International and Amigos Pro Animal to get them to safety.
Rescuers took the dogs to a temporary shelter to receive medical attention.
The Humane Society International and Amigos Pro Animal are committed to helping the dogs find loving forever homes as soon as they fully recover.
