See What Grandpa Does Every Time He Meets An Adorable Pup!

Haley Okun and her family have always considered dogs to be important to them. Throughout Okun’s life, they’ve had four pups, and they were just as much a part of the family as any human relative.

Okun and her family bonded over their mutual love of animals and pets, and Okun and her grandfather Steve Gavin were especially close through this means. For seven summers, Okun would go over to stay with her grandparents, and they would go sailing on Cape Cod or go on drives, during which her grandfather would happily point out all the pups they saw driving past.

Gavin, too, grew up surrounded by pups, and he was thrilled that he and Okun shared that in common! He doesn’t have a pup now due to how often he travels, but virtually all his children except one have dogs, so he’s never too far away from a furry buddy! He also still does his best to make friends with every single one that he meets, especially since his neighborhood has a lot of them.

Whenever Gavin spots a pup, he quickly gives Okun a call just to tell her all about the pups he’s spotted. He also sends her articles about pups very regularly and loves to just tell her stories about the dogs he’s seen, befriended, and fallen in love with! A short while ago, he called her to do just that, but Okun didn’t pick up in time, so he just left her an absolutely adorable and lovely voicemail! Just read how cute it is!

Okun knows that she and her grandfather will always share a close bond, and not just due to their love for all things pup-related.

Still, despite everything else they have in common, dogs will always be their favorite thing to talk about!
