Shelter Dog Finally Finds Her Forever Home!

Like many shelter dogs, Ava’s arrival at the Hoke County Animal Shelter in North Carolina was a depressing occasion. She was given to the shelter by her former owner, seemingly out of the blue.

The life she knew had come to an end and she was utterly devastated. Luckily, her bad luck was about to change.

According to Kristi Pylanyt, a shelter worker who was there when Ava arrived, shared that Ava was terrified at first, and quite sad. However, the two slowly developed a bond and became friends. Without the patience of Pylant and the other shelter staff, it’s unclear what would have happened to Ava. Slowly, she became more trusting, and her days were brighter.

Then, just this month, her dreams came true. A visitor to the shelter decided Ava was the one for her, and in that instant, Ava’s life changed again. Ava was overjoyed and she knew she was about to go to her forever home. Pylant and the rest of the staff were happy for her as well, and when it was time to go, she even stopped and extended her paws as a show of thanks.

What seemed like the end of the world, was in fact, a new beginning for Ava. The shelter staff knew all along that she would find a loving home, and while she was there, they did her best to help her feel comfortable in an unfamiliar situation. Now, Ava can live her best life in a home with people who would never give her up.
