Shelter Helps Homeless Teen And His Dog Find A Home Together

Kris Robinson, acting director at the Senatobia-Tate County Animal Shelter, was sitting outside when a teenager with a dog walked up to her and asked whether she could take his dog.

The teen explained that he lived under a bridge and couldn’t afford to care for the dog anymore. “When I leave to go and try to find work, I hope that she stays, and so far she’s been there when I come back, but I’m just worried about her.”

From the way the dog, named Jada, clung to the teen, Robinson could tell the duo was close. She took down his information and had him fill out a relinquishment form.

The teen left a bag of dog food with the shelter, and as he walked away, Robinson could see him wiping his face.

When Robinson brought Jada into the office, she climbed up on a chair and looked out the window, confused about why her dad had left. Although she was a bit more comfortable the next day, Robinson knew she had to do something. So, she posted the dog’s story on Facebook to find help.

Robinson contacted a local family who volunteered to take in both the teen and his dog. When the teen and the family came to pick up the dog, the reunion was filled with joy.

The teen and Jada now have a place to call home.
