Shelter Staff Takes Senior Dog On Weekend Getaway

Many people often overlook senior dogs when adopting. However, they have no idea that they are missing out. Senior dogs may not be as energetic as puppies, but they have so much love to give and often teach us to appreciate the little things in life.

Leroy, an 11-year-old dog at Dog Tales Rescue & Sanctuary in King City, Ontario, has been waiting for 7 years for someone to adopt him. Seeing that the dog had spent too many nights alone in the kennel, Stephanie Munro, a shelter staff, decided to spoil him with a weekend away at a cottage.

Stephanie took TikTok to share a video of their time away. She captioned the video, which shows a happy Leroy sniffing and exploring the outdoors, "Will Leroy ever find his forever family?"

In another video Stephanie shared, we see Leroy sleeping on the ground. The pup was used to sleeping in a kennel that he didn't know the dog bed was for him. Stephanie had to entice him to the bed with treats, and he slept soundly.

Stephanie hopes that someone will see Leroy's videos and adopt him. "At 11 years old, Leroy is slowing down. I would hate to see him spend another one of his precious years in a shelter," she wrote. Leroy needs a forever home without children and where he is the only pet.
