Shelter Weds Bonded Pups So That They Will Be Adopted Together

Jack and Diane are two senior pups who were dumped in a cemetery in Maine in the summer of 2018. They eventually were taken in by the Kennebec Valley Humane Society. Being older dogs, the chances of them being adopted have always been slim, and this is why the pair have been without a forever home until today.

Jack, 10, and Diane, 7, have stuck by each other through thick and thin and share a very strong bond – so much so that staff and volunteers joked they were the resident old, married couple of the shelter.

Staff wanted them to only be adopted together, and they decided to make that decision official. How, you ask? With a wedding, of course!

Staff began decorating the shelter for the big day. They used white flowers and even put an aisle in the ceremony area with a long carpet.

Diane got to dress up in a flowery collar and wore a veil, which she put on in her personal dressing room. Meanwhile, Jack donned a bowtie and sat by the “altar” waiting for her!

When Diane came out, Jack was so happy to see her that he met her halfway down the aisle! It’s clear they were a match made in heaven, and the two pups said their vows by giving shelter director Stevanie Roy kisses. For the reception, the pair got to eat pepperoni slices off of some pizza!

Roy hopes that this adorable affair, shared on the shelter’s social media page, will help promote the senior pups, who truly deserve a forever home to spend their golden years.
