Someone Abandoned This Poor Pup, But Then A Miracle Happened That Blew Everyone Away!

Someone Abandoned This Poor Pup, But Then A Miracle Happened That Blew Everyone Away!

Starfish’s case was the kind that usually gets a pup euthanized in an overcrowded shelter. She was paralyzed, with no use of her two hind legs. She dragged them along behind her, covered in waste material, dirt, and mud, trapping her tail beneath them.

And yet, despite everything, Starfish was always smiling and in good spirits. No one knows what happened to her, but she had been in that condition for around two weeks before she was surrendered to the shelter by her previous family.

That’s a whole two weeks she spent suffering and paralyzed, and the shelter she was surrendered to knew the chances of her being adopted were incredibly slim. A volunteer contacted countless shelters, but none were comfortable taking Starfish in – and that’s when Second Chance Rescue NYC stepped in to help.

But even that rescue was a little nervous at first. It was a risky move to take any paralyzed pup in, but Starfish’s kindness, spirit, and big loving eyes were worth that risk.

They took the pup in and reached out to Facebook followers for donations. Soon, money and supplies were pouring in, alongside messages of love for the little pup. Dr. Terry, an emergency vet with the rescue group, soon saw Starfish after she was all cleaned up.

The pup was found to be happy and healthy, and she was fitted with a custom “wheelchair” cart that allowed her to run around like she wanted to. She was then sent to the Late Hartwell Hospital, who helped her with physical therapy in hopes of aiding her legs.

That’s when a miracle occurred. After days and days of exhausting, painful, and taxing physical therapy, through which Starfish continued to smile and try even when mishaps occurred – the rescue announced something amazing. Starfish would be able to walk again with regular rehabilitation!

Better yet, Starfish has been adopted! The happiest, most cheerful pup in the world is finally receiving the love and care she deserves, and Second Chance Rescue is so glad they took a leap of faith with her!
