Hobbit was one of 22 pups that the RSPCA rescued in March 2018 from a deplorably filthy home in England. The organization came to the scene due to complaints of potential neglect and mistreatment of animals in the home.
All 22 pups were stuffed into tiny makeshift cages throughout the whole house, covered in matted fur and filth that caused the whole house to stink. The pups were all moved to different RSPCA locations, where they needed to receive treatment for a wide range of medical issues.
Hobbit has suffered severely. She was very skinny and extremely anxious, refusing to have her fur clipped or brushed and become very stressed out when approached.
She was eventually sedated so her matted coat could be shaved off. She then had to be cleaned and was given time to recover.
But the emotional wounds that Hobbit felt needed to heal, too. Staff and volunteers did their best to encourage her to trust them. Finally, after three months, she began to come out of her shell.
Soon, she showed her sweet, loving side and wanted to spend all her time with people! Soon, she was ready for adoption, and in June she was taken in by a loving couple – her new Mom and Dad.
From a terrified, sick pup, Hobbit has completely transformed. She has tons of friends, loves hanging out by the beach, enjoys walks, and has even bagged a first place spot in a dog competition!
Her life has definitely changed for the better, and she’s living the happy life she deserves.
