Texas Dog Tests Positive For SARS-CoV-2 That Causes COVID-19 In Humans

The novel coronavirus has disrupted our lives quite significantly in recent months. We have had to change the way we go about our usual routines, with limited movement and high restriction.

Due to the virus being highly contagious, the restrictions have been put in place to help curb infection rates and keep as many people safe as possible. During these taxing times, there have been many stories making their rounds about animals and this highly contagious virus. With a tiger in a zoo testing positive, many people have worried about their various pets.

We as dog parents have also been worried too, often wondering if our canine companions could get just as sick as we could. A recent incident in Texas has emerged and made the media. One family in Tarrant County was tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Out of precaution, the family took their devoted dog to be tested too. The results indicated that their canine companion has indeed contracted the virus. During testing, proper precaution was taken by the veterinarian team, ensuring the safest environment possible for everybody.

Although this particular furry face tested positive, the vet reported that the dog had no symptoms and was in good health at that time. Yes, it is frightening for us to think that our precious pooches could be infected with the virus at any point. But it is also important to remember that if we follow the advice of healthcare professionals and apply it to our fur babies too, we can curb the spread and keep all family members safe.
